Benso (W/R), May 22, GNA - The Benso Oil Palm Plantation (BOPP) has renovated the Benso Secondary/Technical School science laboratory at a cost of 100 million cedis.
The company also provided furniture and cupboards for safe storage of science equipment.
Mr Malik Amin, Managing Director of the company who commissioned the rehabilitated laboratory assured the people that the company would continue to play a meaningful role in the socio-economic development of Benso-Adum Banso communities in the Western Region.
He appealed to the chiefs and people of the communities to co-operate to ensure peaceful co-existence and development. Education, he said was key to development and that was why, "we deem it appropriate to assist in areas we see clear potentials." Mr. Amin said the BOPP Estate School was already making a contribution by giving quality basic education to children some of who came from the communities.
He asked the students to take their lessons seriously and make god use of the facilities to enable them to grow up to become responsible citizens.
Mr. Amin later presented the keys of the laboratory to Nana Kwabena Amoah II, Chief of Benso.
He appealed to the chiefs to release more land to BOPP for cultivation and encourage their subjects to sell their palm fruits to the company.
Nana Kwabena Amoah thanked the management of BOPP for the gesture and appealed to the company to provide them with a hostel and teachers' quarters to attract teachers to teach in the communities. 22 May 05
