Bawumia supports Axim Mosque with GHC10,000

The Vice President, Dr Alhaji Muhammadu Bawumia on Friday brought joy to Muslims in Axim Central mosque when he donated an amount of GHC10,000 to help renovate the Central Mosque which is in a deplorable state.

The donation forms part of the promise he made to the Muslim community during his Ramadan Tour to Axim in the Western Region on Saturday, 18th May 2019.

Presenting the cash to the Muslims on behalf of the Vice President, the Member of Parliament for the area and Minister of State at the office of the Senior Minister, Hon. Catherine Afeku underscored the importance of the fulfillment of the Vice President's promise to the Muslims.

The Vice President also promised to include Axim Ahle Sunah Basic school, the only Islamic school in the Municipality in the National School Feeding Program in order to promote pupils retention and encourage enrolment in the school.

In fulfillment of the promise, Hon Afeku informed the Chief Imam that the school has been included in the School Feeding Programme scheduled to take effect from this Tuesday, 18th June 2019 with the caterers from the Zongo community.

She urged them to support the NPP government in prayers at all times.

Chief Imam, Sheik Abdul Malik receiving the cash on behalf of the Muslims expressed gratitude to the President of the Republic and his Vice for fulfilling such a promise within the shortest possible time.

He, seized the opportunity to hail Hon. Afeku for her unflinching support to Muslims and Zongo communities in the Municipality.

He also advised Muslims to have patience and absolute faith in the NPP government to develop the country and pleaded for more financial and material support to help renovate the mosque.
