Big Cycle GH to raise funds to support burnt girl

Big Cycle GH, a fundraising organisation, is planning a cycling and running competition to raise GH? 6,500.00 to support the surgical operation of a nine-year-old girl, who was injured in a fire disaster.

Grace Quaicoo, who was badly wounded in a domestic fire tragedy at home, last year needs GH? 5,000.00 for the surgery and GH? 1,500.00, for the three weeks she would be on admission at Korle-bu Teaching Hospital.

Nana Duawusu Preston, Founder/Organiser of Big Cycle GH, said in a statement issued and copied to Ghana News Agency in Accra that the event called duathlon, would take place at Elmina in the Central Region, on Sunday July 3.

The event would start at Kobina Gyan Square at 1400 hours as the main meeting point to start and complete the competition.

The route for the running competition includes Old market – Roman Catholic Church – Elmina Catholic Girls Primary School to the Dutch Cemetery.

The riders would use Kobina Gyan Square – Chapel Square – Brofo Banho – Estate junction – New Market – Terterim – Nyanta Dentsido and Chapel Square route.

About 100-150 competitors are expected to take part in the event.

Big Cycle GH seeks to use events such as cycling, triathlon and duathlons sporting events as an avenue to raise funds to support various charities in Africa in general and Ghana in particular.
