The Birim Central Municipal Assembly has completed the construction of a by-pass on the MTTU/Nursing Training School road.
This has created the opportunity for drivers to use the route to the Akyem Oda Old Town and the main lorry park without using the main road.
This has helped to ease traffic on the main Akyem Oda road.
Mr Owusu Frimpong-Boadu, the Municipal Co-ordinating Director and Mr Alex Tetteh, the Municipal Engineer disclosed this in an interview with the GNA Media Auditing and Development Tracking team at Akyem Oda .
The GNA /STAR- Ghana Media Auditing and Tracking of Development Project is an initiative launched to promote participatory democracy and social accountability.
Mr Frimpong-Boadu said, the project was financed through the Assembly’s Urban Development Grant (UDG), and added that, a passenger’s lounge being constructed through the grant is 60 per cent complete.
He appealed to the UDG secretariat to allow the Assembly to use the remainder of the fund to undertake development projects.
He commended Messrs Synbec Ghana limited, the construction firm for completing the project ahead of schedule.
A cross section of drivers has commended the Assembly on its initiative, which they said was facilitating their movement.
