Birim Central confirms Asare as MCE

Mr. Kwabena Nkansah Asare was over the weekend elected as the new Municipal Chief Executive of the Birim Central Municipal Assembly.

Mr Asare, who was a former Presiding Member of the assembly, polled 54 votes out of the 58 member Assembly.

Addressing the members of the Assembly after the confirmation, Mr Asare promised to operate an open administration that is devoid of partisanship and promised to initiate programmes that would benefit all in the Municipality.

Mr. Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere, the Eastern Regional Minister, thanked the assembly members for throwing their support behind the President’s nominee, adding that, this shows that there is unity in the Birim Municipality.

He urged them to continue working together in harmony and hoped that the collaboration existing between the newly elected MCE and the assembly members over the years would be strengthened to foster unity and bring development to the people.

Mr. William Agyapong, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akim Oda Constituency, said it is not common for an MCE to get the full support from the people and advised Mr Asare to be cautious in whatever he does.

The MP also pledged his full support for the new MCE and assured him of his cooperation.

Obrempong Gyemfi Sarfo III,Krontihene of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, advised the newly elected MCE to make use of the limited time before the next general elections to bring development to the people.

He appealed to the Regional Minister to help rehabilitate the roads in the Municipality.
