Supporters of defeated Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema West constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Mrs. Irene Naa Torshie Addo, and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the area, Mr. Carlos Kingsley Ahenkora, had a serious clash at a funeral in Accra on Saturday, July 15, 2016, Today has gathered.

The clash, Today learnt, happened at a funeral ground of the late mother of the Tema West constituency Youth Organiser of the NPP, Mr. Buabeng Twumasi.

The funeral, which was held at Batsonaa near Spintex in Accra, attracted lots of supporters and executives of the NPP in Tema West constituency.

Today was gathered that during the funeral, a member from Mr. Carlos Ahenkorah’s camp took off his black shirt and beneath it was a white T-shirt with an embossed picture of Mr. Ahenkorah.

This party member, Today understands, danced to the admiration of the NPP members who had attended the funeral.

Interestingly, many of the party members also hailed the man for showing the printed T-shirt of Mr. Ahnekora at the funeral ground.

That was not all, the Assembly Member for Harcrow Electoral Area, Hon. Akwasi Opoku Bosompem, drew closer to the dancer to hail him; other members also joined in the fray.

However, a livid Nana Yaw Ntim, the man who is in court challenging the candidature of Mr. Ahenkora, got furious with what was happening and allegedly attacked the man wearing Mr. Ahenkora’s T-shirt.

And that was what led to the clash between the two factions, Today learnt.

The development, Today was informed, led to the abrupt halt of the funeral programme.

According to sources, elders of the bereaved family came in to calm the situation.

The sources disclosed to Today that the fight started after all the top notch members of the NPP had left for their various houses.
