Assembly Members of the Bole District Assembly has confirmed Mr James Jaaga, President’s nominee for the area, as the District Chief Executive for a four-year term.
Mr Jaaga polled 31 votes representing 82 per cent out of the 38 total Assembly in an election supervised by Mr Godwin Okley, Deputy Northern Regional Director of the Electoral Commission.
His confirmation completes the 13 nominations the president had made in the Northern region, all of whom had been confirmed, with West Gonja District and the Sagnerigu sub metro receiving a 100 per cent endorsement.
Mr Bede Ziendeng, Northern Regional Minister, speaking after the Bole nominee had been confirmed, expressed gratitude to Assembly members in all the 13 districts, who had confirmed their nominees, and that, it’s an indication of their preparedness to help develop their areas.
He said, “What this means is that we are all solidly behind the president to work hard to develop the region and help deal with its challenges of poverty, bad roads, water and sanitation”.
Mr Ziedeng said his outfit would not countenance attitudes such as trouble fomenters, and that, such acts would be dealt with appropriately to serve as a deterrent to others.
He appealed to Ghanaians, especially Assembly members to strive and support the government to achieve its ideals of the “Better Ghana Agenda” to justify the confidence reposed in it.
Mr Ziedeng appealed to all District Assemblies in the country to live above personal interests and come together to endorse the president’s nominees to facilitate development in their areas.
Mr Jaaga expressed gratitude to the president for nominating him and thanked the Assembly for the overwhelming endorsement, saying that, he would work hard and provide the needed development agenda of the district to justify the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to run an open door administration and also focus on the improvement of the internally generated revenue for development.
“It will be very difficult to determine those who voted against me so I will conclude that all the Assembly voted for me and I am going to work with the Assembly but not individuals. Let us forget the past, unite and I need the cooperation of all so that together we build the district”, he said.
