The next National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, led by John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to transform Ghana's economy, diversify exports, and ensure value addition to create more jobs starting from January 2025.

These commitments are outlined in the NDC's manifesto, launched on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Winneba in the Central Region.

Key initiatives include building two factories in the Bono Region—a tomato processing plant and a cashew processing plant—to boost local production and employment.

Mahama also promised to add value to Ghana’s cocoa by increasing domestic processing and refining the country’s gold before export.

Additionally, the NDC plans to pursue the long-held vision of an integrated bauxite and alumina industry, with strategic sectors like VALCO and TOR playing crucial roles in strengthening the economy.

Mahama also committed to establishing cocoa processing factories in cocoa-growing regions, reducing the reliance on raw cocoa exports.

The manifesto also promises the creation of Farmer Co-operatives in every region, which will receive support to enhance their operations.

Furthermore, the NDC administration plans to establish factories in each region based on their unique comparative advantages, including operationalising the Komenda Sugar Factory, reviving the Pwalugu Tomato Factory, and restoring the Zuarungu Meat Factory.
