Accra, Oct. 10, GNA – A 100 page book which chronicles the life and the history of the people of Nungua Krowor, a suburb in Accra has been launched.
The book which has six chapters was written by Reverend Joseph Anum Ayitey, Minister charge of Nungua North Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, and entitled Nungua Krowor-People of Love and Unity.
Launching the book, Mrs Grace Tagoe, Director of Communication, Judicial Services of Ghana, praised Rev Ayitey for the book as it sought to educate all on the culture of the people of Nungua Krowor.
She said “the book would cure the disease of ignorance that has permeated deep into our societies”.
She called on the intellectuals of the society not to relent in their efforts but to come out with useful activities that would impart their communities with the knowledge gained.
Mrs Tagoe called on Gas to bury their differences and forge ahead in unity and peace for the development of the Ga state.
She urged the people of Nungua and Gas as a whole purchase the book for more enlightenment on their culture and history.
Rev Ayitey said he was encouraged to write the book due to the uniqueness of the people of Nungua adding that “love and unity are virtues that has characterised the people of Nungua and it is very vital to let the world know about it”.
He said the first chapter of the book talked about the history of the Nungua people while the second chapter also discussed the political, social and the religious lives of the people of Nungua.
The third chapter chronicled the festivals celebrated by the people of Nungua while the fourth chapter talked about great achievers of Nungua.
The fifth chapter talked about the advent of Christianity in Nungua while the last chapter looked at the way forward for the people of Nungua.
The book was reviewed by Rev Dr Eric Nii Bortey Anum, Head of Department, Religion and Christian Values, University of Cape Coast.
