Bosomtwi DCE Honoured

Kuntanase(Ash), Aug. 18, GNA - Mr James Fosu, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bosomtwi was last Tuesday honoured by the chiefs and people of Akokofe in the Bosomtwi District of the Ashanti Region for his dedication and commitment to duty, which led to his elevation to that position.

He was presented him with a beautiful Kente cloth and a citation among other gifts from members of the community. Making the presentation, Opanin Appiah Mensah, Krontihene of Akokofe said until his elevation to the post of DCE, Mr Fosu who is a native of the town showed good leadership qualities by spearheading most development activities in the community. He said the entire Akokofe community was not surprised when President Kufour looking for someone competent to manage the district chose him to take up that enviable position, adding that the chiefs and people of the community were solidly behind him in all his endeavors. The Krontihene indicated that, the community through its initiative last year, generated over GH¢22,000 to tar the roads in the town after levying every adult resident GH¢15 towards the project. Opanin Mensah said the community was negotiations with the German Development Services to construct a new school block to decongest the local Primary School as well as provide bore holes to enhance the standard of living.

The Krontihene urged the staff of the district assembly to support the DCE to enable him spearhead the district's development agenda. Mr James Fosu thanked the chiefs and people of Akokofe for the honour done him and pledged to continue the good works. He charged the people to be law abiding and appealed to the chiefs and kingmakers in the town to help resolve an old chieftaincy issue in the area to enable peace to prevail. Mr Joseph Akwasi Assuming, Presiding Member of the district assembly who was part of the DCE's entourage called on the people to pray for people in authority to enable them work well. He said everything would be done to share development projects equally to every community.
