Brong Ahafo Nadmo To Intensify Education

The Brong Ahafo Regional co-ordinator of National Disaster Management, (NADMO) Nana Atafenah says his outfit would this year intensify its education and sensitization of the public on early warnings of disaster in the region.

He said its tentacles would be extended to basic schools to form Disaster clubs, to educate the pupils on what constitute a disaster.

According to him NADMO would collaborate with the Ministry of health, Ghana National Fire Service, Town and Country planning, Environmental Protection Agency, The Police and the Army to identify early warnings of disaster

In an interview with Spacefm, the co-ordinator disclosed that NADMO will tackle areas such as Domestic fire, Bush fire, Rain Storm and conflicts in the region.

He said its activities would also be co-coordinated with the various districts Assemblies to ensure proper disposal of waste in the region, and demolish unauthorized structures in the region which is a recipe for disaster.

Nana Atafenah said a tax force would be formed to check Deforestation and activities of illegal chain saw operators in the region.

He urged property owners to look for quality artisans and take advantage of insurance companies and not to rely solely on the government since disaster is no respecter of person.
