Brong Ahafo prepares for Ghana @50

Sunyani, (B/A), Feb. 16, GNA - As part of activities lined up to mark Ghana's Golden Jubilee Anniversary Celebrations, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Planning Committee of Ghana @ 50 on Thursday organized a float through the principal streets of Sunyani to raise public awareness on the celebration.

The event dubbed: 93Rally Around The Flag" is being commomerated simultaneously in different parts of the country and it saw school children, nananom as well as some heads of the security agencies in the region partaking in the brief ceremony.

In a short message, Mr. Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, said Ghana was destined to be a shinning example in Africa, adding that was depicted by its leading efforts towards the total emancipation of Africa.

He explained the true meaning of the national flag to school children, and encouraged them to let their endeavours be guided by such qualities and virtues which the country's founding fathers stood for, as they gradually grow to become useful citizens of the country who would fight for the economic and political empowerment of the country and Africa as a whole.

"You need to let the spirit in the national flag spur you on to champion the course of national development", he stressed. He also called on Nananom and other institutions to endeavour to place the national flag alongside their own institutional flags to remind them of the need to be patriotic.

The Regional Minister called on Ghanaians to maintain and sustain the peace the country enjoys now to help accelerate its development. Earlier, Mr. Baffour-Awuah hoisted the national as well as the anniversary flags at the frontage of the Regional Coordinating Council. 16 Feb. 07 Attention recipients: Item 23 ends our third transmission
