Abetifi MP Bryan Acheampong on Friday, 24 January 2020 broke the ground for the construction of some Abetifi town roads in the Eastern Region.

The 8-kilometre stretch will link more than 10 communities to Abetifi.

The roads, which had been in deplorable state for a very long time, are expected to be completed before the end of the year.

Mr Acheampong disclosed this at Abetifi during the sod-cutting ceremony.

The Minister in charge of National Security at the Presidency thanked the President for fulfilling his promise during the sod-cutting ceremony.

“Roads make a crucial contribution to economic development, growth and bring important social benefits. In order to make a nation grow and develop, roads are of vital status. For these reasons, road infrastructure is one of the most important of all public assets”, Mr Acheampong said.

He noted that roads open up more areas and stimulate economic and social development.

The locals of Kwahu Abetifi and other neighbouring communities thanked the MP for his lobbying skills which culminated in the road project.

They said they would finally get some respite from inhaling dust all the time as a result of the poor nature of the town roads.

The sod-cutting ceremony was graced by the District Chief Executive, the chief of Abetifi and other traditional leaders, as well as opinion leaders, the presiding members of the district assembly, among others.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government has earmarked 2020 as the “Year of Roads.”
