Builsa South Assembly committed to improving education

The Builsa South Assembly is committed to improving the enrollment and standard of performance of both teachers and pupils of basic schools in the district.

Madam Elizabeth Jane Afiuc, the District Chief Executive, said this on Friday when she presented some educational materials to the Fumbisi English and Arabic Junior High School.

The items included 340 exercise books, 344 ball-point pens, and a desktop computer and accessories, to aid in the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

The donation was in fulfillment of a promise she made to award the best performing school in the district in the 2014 Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE).

Madam Afiuc noted that education at the basic level was the foundation on which all other developments would be built, and therefore, all efforts must be made to improve the standards and quality of performance at that foundational level.

She said the donation would motivate both the teachers and pupils to continue to work hard to improve upon their academic performance.

Receiving the items on behalf of the pupils and staff, the headteacher, Mr Ben Adocta, expressed gratitude to the Chief Executive for the kind gesture, and assured her that the items would be put to good use to improve teaching and learning.

Mr Adocta mentioned low enrollment of pupils and inadequate furniture for teachers and pupils, as some of the major challenges facing the school, and appealed to the District Assembly to urgently come to their aid.
