Several market women trading at the Abuja Market near the CMB building in Accra have besieged the premises of the court over attempts to evict them from the spot.
According to Starr News’ court correspondent Wilberforce Asare, the women, clad in red and black are wailing and calling for government to intervene to save their businesses.
The land where the women ply their trade has reportedly been sold to a private developer, GOEFORT, who has already developed part of the land and is proceeding to where the women sell.
The matter ended up in court after the women persistently prevented the developer from embarking on works on the land.
The case has been adjourned to Wednesday February 24.
