Ho, Oct. 4, GNA - The Volta Regional Advisory Committee of the Centre for National Culture (CNC), has appealed to municipal and district Assemblies in the region to offer financial support to the Centre to enable it prepare the region to take part in this year's National Festival of Arts and Culture in the Northern Region. The Committee made the appeal at its meeting in Ho on Tuesday at which it discussed preparations for district festivals to select regional teams for the NAFAC scheduled to take place from the end of November to early December this year.
Briefing the meeting, Mr William Addo, the Volta Regional Director of CNC, said the National Commission on Culture (NCC) had indicated to the various regions that, they would be expected to supplement whatever financial support the Commission would receive from the central government towards the festival.
Accordingly the Centre made representations to the various district assemblies for support but only a few of them had indicated their preparedness to assist, Mr Addo said.
Meanwhile, Togbe Adela Adelakoe II, Chairman of the Advisory Committee expressed optimism that the Centre has the potential to generate enough revenue to support its activities, once work on roofing the regional theatre was completed.
Togbe Adelakoe made the observation, when members of the Committee inspected progress of work towards roofing the theatre. He said he would help procure a computer for the Centre by the next meeting of the Committee, while working towards securing a vehicle for its operations.
