There is calm at the two Special Voting centres at the forecourt of the Electoral Commission (EC) office in Ketu South, where a total of 1,246 voters are expected to vote.

As of about 11:45 hours, when 325 and 331, making a total of 656 people, voted at voting centres A and B, no incident happened.

Queues formed as early as 0600 hours, and the first voter cast the ballot at exactly 0700 hours.

Various Party agents, including the New Patriotic Party, National Democratic Congress, The New Force, Movement for Change and observers from the Institute for Democratic Governance and Coalition of Domestic Election Observers, were present.

Also present were enough police personnel to provide security for the process.

Ms Enyonam Ashiagbor, who will be serving as an election official in the December 7 general election, told Ghana News Agency (GNA) after casting her ballot that the process was smooth.

Mr Kofi Sakyi Boampong, Ketu South Municipal Electoral Officer, said in an interview that the same thing would be replicated during the main election.

He asked voters to turn up in their numbers on December 7 as early as possible to vote while urging those in areas classified as hotspots not to despair but to visit their respective polling stations to exercise their franchise.

The ongoing nationwide special voting being conducted ahead of the general election is to allow eligible voters involved in election-related duties, including election officials, media practitioners and security personnel, to cast their ballot early to have time for their duties during the main election on Saturday, December 7.
