A 45-year-old carpenter, was on Monday found dead in his room at Chapel Square, a suburb of Bogoso in the Prestea Huni/Valley District.
The deceased was found in a state of decomposition by neighbours and was identified as Mensah Otabil, who hails from Agona Swedru in the Central Region.
Superintendent Timothy Dassah, the District Police Commander for Prestea, told the Ghana News Agency that on September 6 around 0845 hours, the police received a report that a man has been found dead in his room.
He said when the police went to the self-contained house, the man was found dead, lying naked on the floor.
He said there were no physical marks or bruises on the body when the police examined it.
Supt Dassah said a co-tenant informed the police that the deceased was not often seen at home as he leaves the house early in the morning to work and returns late in the evening.
He said on the fateful day, one of the deceased’s friends came to the house to look for him and after several knocks at his door, without any response, the door was forced opened and the corpse was seen.
Supt Dassah said the environmental officers were informed to fumigate the room after a medical officer had examined the body which was released to relatives for burial while police investigations continue.
