Catherine Afeku in trouble

...As parents accuse her of promoting immorality

Information available to Today indicates that some parents at Axim in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western region are incensed with the Member of Parliament (MP) for Evalue-Gwira, Madam Catherine Ablema Afeku, for luring their wards into an all-night jamboree which witnessed several immoral activities being perpetrated last Friday.

The jamboree which was dubbed ‘NPP Azonto’ night jams, according to sources, was ostensibly aimed at sensitizing the youth on the ongoing biometric voter’s registration exercise but was later turned into a drinking and smoking spree at the behest of the MP.

...The jamboree, which started from 6pm and lasted as late as 1am attracted minors and youth groups from both Axim and Nsein. This paper gathered that most of the youth were seen mostly half naked with some getting excessively drunk; mostly under fifteen years. According to the parents of some of the wards this reporter spoke to, they thought the event was going to be an educative programme interspersed with social interactions but were astonished to find the event go the unfortunate way. The livid parents condemned their MP’s conduct in no uncertain terms terming it “irresponsible.”

They bemoaned the occurrence which according to them exposed their children to among a host of other things dangers of smoking.

Atta Mame, in an interview with this paper flayed the MP for her ineptitude and weak political role and cautioned that the MP should refrain from her immoral lifestyle and leadership.

On his part, Mr. Yankah, a father of two, warned the MP to stop leading the youth of Axim into immoral acts and concentrate on putting in place programmes that would expose the youth to holistic development.
