The Paramount Chief of Anlo-Afiadenyigba chief, Togbi Salu III, has issued a stern warning to his people to abstain from violence during the upcoming December 7 elections.

Speaking at the 70th anniversary of his enstoolment, Togbi Salu III appealed to all stakeholders in the electoral process, including political parties, the electoral commission, security services, and citizens, to ensure a credible and peaceful election.

"The political climate is heating up as we approach the December 7, 2024 general elections. I urge all involved to refrain from any actions that could undermine the process and compromise the peace of our nation," he stated.

He cautioned citizens to reject any politician who seeks to incite violence or disturb the peace.

"As chiefs, we must not tolerate such politicians in our communities. We must send a clear message that we value our people and will not allow them to be used for violent purposes," he added.

The chief emphasized that exercising one's franchise does not have to lead to bloodshed and that peace is paramount.

The event, heled on October 5, 2024 was themed, "The Changing Landscape of Traditional Leadership: Repositioning Salu Stool for Community Development," culminated in the inauguration of a state-of-the-art palace and sports complex in Anlo-Afiadenyigba.

Dignitaries present at the event included the chairman and council of elders of the Salu stool, Hon. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey (MP for Keta), Hon. Emmanuel Gemegah (MCE of Keta), Hopeson Adorye (leading member of the Movement for Change), and other traditional leaders.
