Cape Coast, Dec.6, GNA - Members of the Central Regional House of Chiefs on Tuesday congratulated the President-elect, Professor John Evans Atta Mills and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for exhibiting maturity in presidential election.
In a statement issued and signed by its President, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, the House acknowledged the role the two men played in ensuring that peace prevailed in the country. It expressed the hope that the peace being enjoyed in the country would continue because a country could only develop when there was "total peace".
The statement assured the President-elect of the House's total support in order to enhance the forward growth of the country. It expressed the hope that Professor Mills would keep his word of being a father to all Ghanaians as well as continue with the good work of President Kufour.
The House commended the security agencies, the media, local and foreign observers and the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr Kwadwo Afari-Gyan and his team for their good work and ensuring that peace prevailed in the country. It urged all Ghanaians to rally behind the new President to enable the country to attain a middle income status.
