Chemico holds workshop for farmers, Agro-chemical dealers & Field Staff

Leading agro-chemical & fertilizer company, Chemico Ltd., has held a weeklong workshop for field staff cocoa farmers and agro-chemical distributors from the Ashanti, Eastern, Central, Western and Brong Ahafo regions.

At the climax of the workshop on Thursday in Kumasi, the participants were schooled on safe and effective ways of spraying cocoa, and also introduced them to their new product, Cocoasett

Among the facilitators for the workshop were a Technical Consultant on Cocoa, Mr. Kwame Obeng Adjinah; a renowned Agro business executive from Germany, Hans-Dieter Hohn and other Agronomists from Chemico Ltd

In an address, the Director of Sales and Marketing, Mr. Prince Agyemang Yeboah commended the efforts of the various stakeholders, especially cocoa farmers and agro-chemical sellers, who in their respective contribution have helped and supported Ghana’s Agricultural industry.

He, however, advised them to continuously engage themselves, and often seek information about the chemicals they distribute and use on regular basis.

Mr. Agyemang Yeboah described the workshop as one of the several ways by which Chemico Ltd. engages users and distributors of its products, in order to obtain useful, first hand information for products’ enhancement.

“Here, we meet face-to-face with everyone and introduce our field staff to especially the distributors, so that they can share ideas and create links towards the common good of the industry,” he added.

For his part, the Managing Director, K. K. Donkoh, expressed optimism about the country’s potential to double its cocoa production this year.

He, however, called for the application of appropriate chemicals that fight diseases and increase yield.

He observed that though the Ghanaian agro-chemical market is flooded with several brands, only a few can truly help cocoa yield.

Among them, he said, was the cocoasett, which he described as very efficacious and reliable for the manner it induces and retains flowering after it has been sprayed on the foliage and trunks of cocoa plants. “It is even more effective under stressful conditions or harmattan.

“It produces high number of pods and quality beans,” he said, observing that cocoasett also “allows plants to strive in even harsh conditions as the dry season.”
