Chief appeals for classroom block

Govinakrom, (E/R) March 15, GNA - The Chief and the Parents/Teacher Association of Govinakrom, a farming community in the Ayesuano constituency of Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District Assembly on Monday appealed for a three-classroom block to replace sheds and trees, under which over 120 pupils are taking classes.

Briefing the GNA after a general meeting, Mr Emmanuel Afagbedzi said a school structure was erected by the people but was destroyed by rain storm. The district assembly promised two pavilions for the school but had constructed only one.

This, he said had force them to erect palm sheds for the pupils and anytime it rained the pupils had to abundant classes. Mr Kumi Ernest Head teacher of the school said the pupils had endured this hardship for the past four years and called on the authorities to come to their aid.

Mr Appiah Owusu, Assembly member of the area appealed to the Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District Assembly, Ministry of Education and non-government organisations to assist in building a new school block. Mr Owusu said the chief of the town, Barimah Govinar has offered land for the project and said the people are also ready to offer communal labour for the project.
