Chiefs urged to seek welfare of their people

Tema, April 23, GNA-- Nii Adjei Krakue II, Tema Mantse, on Tuesday advised traditional leaders not to use their positions to enrich themselves but to seek the interest of the people. The Tema Mantse asked chiefs to make the welfare of the people their priority in fulfilment of their promise to the ancestors when they were initiated into office.

He made the call on Tuesday at Tema Manhean, when Nana Bentum II, the newly installed Shippi (Commander) of the Winneba Asafo Number Two Company was formerly introduced to him.

Nii Krakue said it was unfortunate that some chiefs ignored the advice of their people and urged Nana Bentum to cooperate with his elders to ensure peace and development in his area.

The Shippi known in private life as Mr Ekow Bentum Turskson, Operation Manager of Nasaaa Company Limited, succeeded his late father Nana Ebow Turkson.

Nana Bentum would lead the Asafo Company during the celebration of the Aboakyere Festival in May this year.
