Child panel project yields good results in BAK District

Kuntanase (Ash), March 30, GNA - The Child Protection Project instituted by the government a few years ago to educate parents on their responsibilities to their children and the children's rights is yielding good results in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District of Ashanti. According to Mr Ted Oppong, the District Focal Person of the project, most communities, which were operating the project excelled in last year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). Speaking to the Ghana News Agency on the project at Kuntanase on Friday he said, some communities which previously were not doing well in the BECE scored 100 percent passes and named them as Prabon, Assago, Kentinkyeren and Nkwanta. Mr Oppong said apart from the good examination results chalked by most schools in the district which enabled it to place 23rd nationwide and fifth in Ashanti, most parents in the district were now awake to their responsibilities which they had previously neglected. That situation he pointed out was responsible for the situation where many dropped out of school or stay on only to fail in the end.
