China to Strengthen Bilateral Relations with C/R

Cape Coast, Feb. 15, GNA - The visiting 13-member delegation from the Chinese Peoples' Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), on Tuesday, p= aid a courtesy call on the Central Regional Minister, Mrs. Ama Benyiwa-Doe at her residency. The delegation is in the country to strengthen bilateral relations between China and Ghana.

They delegation, made up of politicians and public workers, had since their arrival last Sunday, paid visits to President Atta Mills, the Speaker of Parliament, as well as the Ghana-China Parliamentary Friendship Association.

The leader of the delegation, Mr Li Zhao Zhuo, the Vice Chairman of th= e CPPCC said their visit was to foster closer collaboration between the two countries, particularly on the promotion of trade and tourism. He described the CPPCC as a 93key organ" of the National People's Congress (NPC) of the Republic of China and that the Parliament of Ghana an= d the NPC, acting through the CPPCC, have exchanged high level visits over th= e past decade, which have contributed to strengthening relations between the two institutions, as well as the two countries. Mr Zhuo was of the hope that their visit would contribute to further strengthen the political and socio-economic development of Ghana. Mrs. Benyiwa-Doe was grateful for the visit and stressed the need for more collaboration to enable the two countries to learn more about each other.

She was optimistic that the visit would eventually change the living conditions of the people of the Region.

The delegation later paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Elmina, Nana Kodwo Condua VI, before touring the Elmina Castle. Nana Condua VI was delighted about the visit and commended the delegation for their respect for the culture of the people of Elmina, and urged them to invest in the town and the Region at large.
