Ho, July 3, GNA - The Youth Ministry of Jubilee Christian Centre, Ho branch at the weekend on Friday presented nutritional supplements to senior citizens at the Ho Municipal Hospital Annex.
Presenting the items, which included pineapples, oranges and biscuits, Mr Anthony Bells Kafui Kanyi, Spokesperson of the Ministry said the donation was to assure the old citizens that the youth still have their welfare in mind. He said it was through such donations and acts of compassion that the elderly would discard the notion that society no longer wanted them.
Mr. Kanyi underscored the importance of the elderly to the growth of the family and the nation as a whole, especially on the historic occasion marking the 45th milestone of the country's Republican status. He therefore, called on the government, religious bodies, philanthropists and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to consider the establishment of geriatrics homes in all regional hospitals to enhance improvement in the health of the elderly.
Mrs. Bernice Adorboe, Senior Nurse at the Medical Annex, who received the items was grateful to the Ministry for the gesture and called on society to cultivate the culture of associating with old citizens, especially those who were struggling to survive at hospitals. Mr. Patrick Doe, Acting President of the Youth Ministry encouraged the elderly citizens to be cheerful and put their trust in God.
