Accra, June 29, GNA - Nii Ashie Kumuwuo II, Bubuashie Mantse has advised religious groups not to view the annual ban on drumming and noise making within the Ga traditional areas as fetish. He said the annual rites were divine instructions given to their ancestors in Israel centuries ago and which were being maintained up to date.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Sweet Life International Ministry (SLIM), a new church at Bubuashie, in Accra, Nii Kumuwuo entreated all religious organisations operating in the area to abide by the guidelines on the ban on drumming and noise making. Mr Allotey Addo, Assemblyman for the Bubii electoral area, who was the guest of honour, urged religious groups see themselves as part of the communities within which they operate through their involvement in communal activities.
The Church, established in March this year, has Reverend Robert Jerry Ashong as the General Overseer. Other key figures in the new church include, Reverend Frank Quaye, Treasurer, Reverend Benjamin Mensah Adisi, National Co-ordinator of Missions and Reverend Lawrence Ntreh, General Secretary. It has already established a branch at Kwabenya, near Madina in Accra.
