Churches urged to support Health Insurance Scheme

Agona Swedru (C/R), July 1, GNA - Prophet Dr Miritaiah Jonah Jehu-Appiah, Head of Musama Disco Christo Church (MDCC) has called on churches to take serious view of the National Health Insurance Scheme to urge their members to register with it to ensure quality health care delivery for them. He said it was therefore, imperative for the churches to register with the scheme at their various localities.

Prophet Jonah Jehu-Appiah, Akaboha III, said this at a two- day zonal revival for 14 circuits of the church at Agona Swedru. It was held to pray for the church, which had for some time now, being facing some difficulties, and for the President and his elders. Participants were drawn from Swedru, Bisease, Enyan Denkyira, Musama, Manso and Otuam. He said the health insurance scheme, which would replace the cash and carry system, would serve as a foundation for the people's future health requirements.

Prophet Jonah Jehu-Appiah cautioned his congregation not to play partisan politics with the scheme. He noted that the government was doing everything possible to make Ghanaians have access to quality health care. Prophet Jonah Jehu-Appiah asked the church members to exercise restraints about the misunderstandings in the church presently, since " God's time is the best, adding that, don't allow people to mislead you".

Rev Peter Ohene Ansah, District Pastor for Mozano called for co-operation among the church members to ensure peaceful co-existence in the church.
