Ho, April 1, GNA - The leadership of the Volta Region Branch of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association (CLOGSAG) on Thursday called for steadfastness among its members as it engaged the government regarding its reservations about aspects of the proposed Single Spine Salary Policy (SSPP).
The call was contained in a petition adopted at a meeting in Ho for submission to the Volta Regional Minister. Areas of contention raised in the petition were job evaluation, grading structure, conversion criteria comprehensive guidelines, standardization of allowances, conversion difference and salary structure. The petition signed by Mr Samuel N. Danquah, Regional Chairman said the Association would not obstruct the implementation of a policy based on the principle of transparency, fairness and equity. It said on the contrary experience from the Ghana Universal Salary Structure (GUSS) of 1999 showed that the SSPP would render Civil Servants worse off when implemented in its current state without addressing concerns raised by the Association.
The Petition gave government seven days to open normal negotiations for salary adjustment and other conditions of service for its members for 2010. Members were asked to spot red strips of cloth from today April 1, to demonstrate their protest. 1 April 10
