Classroom renovation to cost 5.1 million cedis

Akim-Asamama (ER), Sept. 3, GNA - A block of six classrooms, an office and store for Akim Asamama Primary School is to be renovated at a cost of 5.1 million cedis to promote teaching and learning. The Assembly member for the area, Mr Otchere Frimpong said this when he led the Ghana News Agency round the block at Akim Asamama on Tuesday.

Other projects envisaged include the sinking of three boreholes, erection of canopy for funeral activities, construction of chiefs' palace and general improvement of sanitation in the community. Mr Frimpong said three boreholes had already been sunk and work on a market had also been completed. Extension of electricity to newly developed areas of the community is also in progress, he said. He said all the projects were being funded partly from the proceeds of funeral and special fund-raising activities and voluntary contributions.

In a related development the Muslim community at Akim Anyinam in the East Akim District, are rehabilitating a block of six classrooms. The project officer of the community, Mr Richard Seidu told the GNA at Anyinam on Tuesday that an old Mosque was being realigned to serve that purpose.

He said the East Akim District Assembly had promised to assist the community.
