CleanACWA, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in collaboration with its development partners, is to provide 120 selected communities in the country with boreholes and latrines by the end of 2025.
Three communities in the Eastern Region and one in the Northern Region had already been provided and would be commissioned soon.
They are Agyementi, Suhum and Ayensuano in the Eastern Region and Ekimdipe in the Northern Region.
Mr Singu Delle, Founder and President of CleanACWA, disclosed these at the end of a walk to commemorate this year’s World Water Day celebration in Accra.
The walk under the theme: “Walk for Water” started from the ‘A & C’ Mall at East Legon to American House through some principal streets of the capital and ended at the starting point.
Mr Delle said about four million people in the country suffer from water-related diseases and most of them die due to lack of clean water.
He said school children were unable to get to school early to take their lessons due to inability of water.
“This hampers effective teaching and learning and most of them also become school drop-outs,” he said.
Mr Delle said “Water is life. It is also dignity. Because without water there will be no development in the country.”
Mr Delle therefore appealed to the government and NGOs to join the “Operation Water for Ghana” campaign to make the country a better place to live.
