Clerks told to stop cheating farmers

Kuapa Kokoo Limited (KKL), a licensed cocoa buying company, has cautioned purchasing clerks (PCs) who indulge in cheating to stop the practice in their own interest.

Mr Peter Moro, the Atwima-Mponua District Manager said those caught short-changing the farmer through the adjustment of weighing scales and other acts of malfeasance would face punitive sanctions.

He said as farmers cooperative organization, the company would go to every length to protect the interest of “hard working Ghanaian cocoa farmers”.

Mr Moro was addressing the annual district meeting of farmers and PCs of the KKL at Nyinahin in the Atwima-Mponua District.

He encouraged the farmers to cultivate the habit of saving part of their earnings and to invest in the education of their children.

Mr Emmanuel Tawiah, District President of the Company urged his colleague farmers to make sure that they pay for fertilizers supplied to them on credit by the KKL.

He said they should also stick to best practices to maintain the quality of the country’s cocoa beans.
