Mr Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, the Deputy Minister of Defence, has called for global and regional efforts to fight terrorism.
He said no country was safe against terrorist attacks in the contemporary world, adding that defending the country against any external threat includes the fight against regional terrorist organizations such as Boko Haram.
The Deputy Minister made the call at the week-long Ghana Armed Forces Land Combat Fire Power Demonstration, aimed at analyzing the roles, concept of operations, organization and capabilities of the country’s army.
The annual event organized by the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College for students of the College, troops on training for peacekeeping operations and individuals, portrayed how the Army developed its tactical doctrines and concept of operations.
The event includes central lectures, indoor and outdoor exercises and would be climaxed by field demonstration.
Mr Adjei said the event provided opportunity for the students to visit a battle field group deployed in the field with demonstrations of a command post and combat support assets.
He said government was doing its best to ensure that the Army is better placed to defend the country, saying, the demonstration was an exercise to showcase the readiness of the Army.
Government is ready to defend the country against any external aggression and it is critical that in combating the insurgents like Boko Haram; all must be vigilant to provide the needed information to the security agencies, he said.
Mr Adjei assured the public that the country had the best Armed Forces in the region with a lot of experience which has been earned through years of dedicated service from UN peacekeeping operations worldwide.
He said the Ministry will do its best to ensure that the troops were continuously well catered for to be able to perform their duties to the best of their abilities.
