Nsawam (E/R), Nov. 9, GNA - Baffour Danquah II, Chief of Akwamu near Nsawam on Thursday said four communities, through self-help, have erected 70 low-tension poles to enable them to tap electricity power from Adoagyiri.
He has therefore appealed to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to speed up work on the electricity project in the area. Baffour Danquah said this when he briefed the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Akwamu after a communal labour organised by the chiefs and people of the four communities to erect the poles.
The communities are Akwamu, Djatsui New Town, Kofisah and Sumkrom, all in the Akuapem South District in the Eastern Region. Baffour Danquah said the people have lived without electicity fo decades and they were ever ready to support the ECG with communal labour for the project to be completed on time.
He expressed appreciation to Mr. Magnus Opare Asamoah, Deputy Minister of Transportation and Member of Parliament for the area for providing the low-tension poles from his Common Fund. Nana Larbi Amoah, Odikro of Sumkrom also congratulated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for undertaking numerous developmental projects in the area to stop the youth from leaving to the cities to search for non-existent white colour jobs.
