Ajumako (C/R), Dec. 22, GNA - Mr Ato Essuman, Central
Region representative of the Council of State has called on the
Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly to establish an Education
Endowment fund to support needy but brilliant students from the
area to acquire higher education. He in this regard donated 1000 Ghana Cedis as his contribution
towards its immediate establishment. Mr Essuman who is also the Chief Director of the Ministry of
Education and Science, made the call at the first ordinary meeting of
the third session of the Assembly on Friday at Ajumako. He said education was an investment and urged parents to
mobilize their resources and invest greatly in their children's
education. Only quality education can make the child become a useful
citizen to the parents, society and the nation as a whole in future, he
said. Mr Essuman entreated parents not to let the problems facing
them, prevent them from educating their children. He said children are the future leaders and must be given the
necessary education for them to take over the mantle of
development of the country from the aged. Mr Albert Quanioo, who was re-elected for another two-year
term as the Presiding Member, later on behalf of the assembly
presented a citation to Mr Essuman who is also a citizen, for his
contributions towards the promotion of education in the district.
