DCE fetes departmental heads and other groups

Mampong (Ash), Dec 26, GNA - Mr Thomas Edward Atakorah, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere West, has advised workers to explore all available avenues to seek redress to labour issues peacefully thereby preventing opponents of the government from sabotaging the country.

He noted that whenever workers, especially those working at factories went on strike, it created artificial shortage and profiteers took advantage of the situation to exploit the people. Mr Thomas Edward Atakorah, was speaking at an end-of-year party organised for security personnel, leaders of the Local Council of Churches and heads of department and other officials in the district at Asante-Mampong on Monday.

He said the type of industrial relations which prevented proper liaison between employer and employee in the past was gone. Mr Atakorah said according to current modalities, employers would have to negotiate directly with their employees for acceptable solutions to problems.

He also urged Church leaders to educate their members on the need for them to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme. Mr Atakorah asked Christians to be guided by the Holy Spirit to enable them uphold moral virtues.

He commended the security agencies for curbing crimes in the country and asked them to continue with their excellent work. Feting various singing groups from the Local Council of Churches, the DCE shared asked Churches to assist in the fight against HIV/AIDS, which he said was no longer a social problem but a developmental matter. The spokespersons for the various groups, lauded the Mr Atakorah for the organising the functions.

They said promised to rally behind the government in its quest to salvage the country from its economic problems.
