DCE for Gomoa honoured for promoting development

Gomoa Otsew-Jukwa (C/R) Dec. 21, GNA - The Chiefs and people of Gomoa Otswe-Jukwa in the Central Region, have installed the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa, Madam Joyce Aidoo as "Mpontuo-Nkosoehenmaa" (Queen of development) for facilitating the development of the District.

Nana Otsieku Baah XII, Baamuhen (sub-chief) of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, conferred the stool name- Nana Amba Tawiah I, on Madam Aidoo, during a special thanks-giving service to thank God for the success of Election 2004 at Gomoa Otsew-Jukwa.

He said the outdooring ceremony of the DCE, would take place on January 14 and 15, 2005, during the annual Akwanbo festival of the chiefs and people, popularly called " Gomoa two weeks".

Nana Baah said Madam Aidoo was very instrumental in the execution of a number of development projects in the town in particular and the other parts of the District and appealed to the Kufuor Administration and the District Assembly to retain her as DCE.

Madam Aidoo expressed gratitude for the honour and said government was committed to provide basic amenities to every community to improve on the standards of living of the people.

She appealed to the people to ensure peace and unity to facilitate the smooth implementation of such development projects.

Madam Aidoo thanked the people for the orderly manner they exercised their franchise during the December 7, Presidential and Parliamentary polls and for retaining President John Agyekum Kufuor for another term in office.

Mr. Yaw Seesi, Chairman of the Town Development Committee told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that Madam Aidoo had spearheaded the establishment of a community farm in the town, which had yielded good dividends and also inspired the youth to take to farming.
