DCE inaugurates Eight Committees at Bogoso

Bogoso (W/R), Aug. 16- GNA-Mr Emmanuel Kwesi Ayensu has inaugurated eight committees at a ceremony at Bogoso in the Prestea-Huni Valley District of the Western Region.

These were District Planning and Coordinating Unit (DPCU), District Statutory Town Planning Committee (DSTPC), District Tender Committee (DTC), District Tender Review Board (DTRB), District Aids Committee (DAC), District Peace Advisory Committee (DPAC), District Water and Sanitation Team (DWST) and the 2008 Farmers Day Planning Committee.

In an address, Mr Ayensu said all members of the various committees were appointed based on their expertise and the requirements of the local government law, Act 642 of the 1993 constitution. He said, his administration has confidence in the capabilities of the members and hoped that, they would work assiduously to confirm the confidence reposed in them.

Mr. Ayensu noted that, the task for the various committees would not be easy since, they would be confronted with a lot of resistance in their collective efforts in ensuring adherence to simple rules and regulations by the people.

He however added that, he was optimistic they would be able to overcome the challenges ahead of them and called on them to be patience, tolerant, innovative and adopt and embrace "people-centred approach" in carrying out their respective duties.

Mr. Ayensu said, as a new district, they would only achieve its objective when members of the Assembly work together as a team, saying, politicians, chiefs, civil and public servants are all agents of development.

He said, as the District Assembly can sue and be sued, members of the various committees should not allow themselves to be influenced by any other considerations that would land the Assembly in a legal battle.

The Apintohene, Nana Kwabena Ango who was appointed the chairman for the district peace advisory committee and the district election task force committee admitted the fact that the task ahead was not easy but promised to do what was expected of them.
