Amasaman (G/AR), July 31, GNA- Mr Samuel Nii Aryeetey Attoh, Ga District Chief Executive (DCE), has presented 7.5 million-cedi gari-processing machine, to members of gari processing group at Akoteakwa, a farming community near Amasaman in the Ga District. Speaking at the presentation ceremony, he said women especially, young girls have an important role to play in the country's socio-economic development.
The DCE said they should take active part especially in the processing of agricultural produce including gari to promote rural industry.
Mr Attoh said the machine was not free and advised the women to work hard to pay back the price of the machine as well as the 25 million-cedi facility granted them to purchase cassava for processing. Mr Lawrence Akuako Sackey, Assemblyman for the area, commended the DCE for his assistance and assured the government of the people's support for its programmes.
Madam Agnes Bronya, Chairperson of the group expressed the hope that the President's Special Initiative (PSI) on Cassava would enable them to improve their income.
