DCE speaks on indiscipline

Goaso (B/A) March 23, GNA - Mr. George Yaw Boakye, Asunafo District Chief Executive, said at the weekend that President J.A Kufuor's 47th Independence Anniversary address was a signal for Ghanaians to be imbued with discipline to accelerate national progress.

The President made his speech against the backdrop of undisciplined acts among the youth, the soaring prevalence of HIV/AIDS and the impending 2004 parliamentary and presidential elections. The DCE noted that Presidents of Ghana since independence had made speeches some of them thought-provoking enough to effect behavioural change among Ghanaians but what remained was the readiness of the people to fully grasp the contents.

Mr. Boakye told Ghana News Agency in an interview at Goaso that the District Assembly was prepared to enforce all rules and regulations to ensure behavioural change among the people, especially the youth. He advised school children to remember, "No real academic attainment can take place without discipline and hard work." The DCE appealed to parents and guardians to offer maximum care for their children for them to grow to face the future as the nation's leaders.
