The Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District Assembly has officially handed over a newly constructed three-unit classroom block to the Balania Junior High school.
The new school block which is worth GHC166, 000 was constructed with funds from the District Assembly’s Common fund.
The District Chief Executive for Daffiama-Bussie-Issah District Mr. Nadi Imoro Sanda speaking to Radio Progress news on Wednesday during the handing over ceremony at Balania called on elders, teachers and pupils of the school to maintain the facility well for the next generation to also benefit from.
According to him, there are many communities in the district that are in dire need of JHS blocks but Balania community was fortunate to get it first.
Mr. Imoro Sanda also entreated the pupils to study hard so that they can benefit from government’s free senior school policy.
He commended the contractor of the project for finishing the work on time.
Speaking to Progress news, school pupils enumerated some challenges they used to encounter when the new JHS block was not constructed.
They recounted how they used to share one classroom with primary schools pupils who used to make noise to distract their studies.
They are, however, appealing to the Assembly to extend electricity to the facility and provide computers for their ICT classes as some of the pupils said they are yet to see a computer in their life.
