Dansoman Beach invaded by wee smokers

Accra, March 28, GNA- Some revellers at the Dansoman beach on Easter Monday complained about the number of teenage merry makers who were found smoking wee openly.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), some of the holiday makers expressed dissatisfaction that there were no security personnel present to check the offensive behaviour.

A 25 year-old man who agreed to talk to the GNA on condition of anonymity said he was surprised that people could be so daring to smoke marijuana in public.

" I wonder whether the numerous advertisements on the harmful effects of narcotic drugs is having any impact on the youth," he asked? A lactating mother pointed at a portion of the beach where a stench of a burning grass was coming from and asked, " Why should young men between 15 and 20 years decide to smoke wee with impunity"?

A student who identified himself as Solomon also complained about illegal extortion of gate fees by some "machomen".

Most of the holiday makers mainly in their teens were found swimming, eating, drinking or dancing to loud music from sound systems in the scotching sun, which did not yield to the sea breeze. Nudity especially amongst female holiday makers was also a common scene.
