District directorate outlines measures to improve education

Manso-Nkwanta (Ash), Feb 23, GNA- The Amansie West District Directorate of Education has outlined measures to improve upon the standard of education in the district.

Mr Elias Kwaku Amoah, the District Director of Education, who made this known, said to ensure proper supervision in schools, some senior officers from the district education office have been transferred to head community schools to ensure proper teaching and learning. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Manso-Nkwanta at the weekend, he said the transferred officers would be replaced by graduate teachers in line with government's policy on capacity building in the district education offices.

He said some of the communities had agreed to take care of recruited pupil teachers who have applied to teach in communities to fill vacancies created by the shortage of trained teachers and named some of the communities at Nnipankyemia and Manso-Suntreso. Mr Amoah said the district directorate has directed that all basic schools in the district start classes at 7 am and close at 3 pm including extra classes, which would be free.

The District Director appealed to parents to invest more on their children's education to enable them become useful citizens.
