Noberkaw (B/A), Feb. 09, GNA - The Asunafo South District has employed 285 youth under the National Youth Employment Programme. Two hundred of the number are engaged in the teaching sector, 60 are working as nurses and 25 for sanitary works.
Mr. George Yaw Boakye, the District Chief Executive said this at a Peoples' Assembly held at Noberkaw in the Asunafo South District of Brong-Ahafo.
The assembly has also released an amount of 70 million cedis as loans to the physically-challenged in the district.
On health, he said five nurses are being sponsored by the district assembly at the Tanoso and Sunyani Nurses Traning School, while the Abuom, Nakete and Kwapong clinics have been completed.
On water supply, the DCE stated that 70 per cent of the district had been covered, including the provision of 15 hand-dug wells. Mr. Yaw Boakye said a new police station has been completed at Sankore and Abuom with the construction of an Irrigation project at 6 billion cedis.
The DCE added that the Abuom-Kyenkyensibuoso-Nakete road have been constructed at the cost of 1.2billion cedis.
Touching on developments on the educational front, he said, the assembly has rehabilitated four schools including a Girls Dormitory for Kukoum Agricultural Secondary School.
He also reiterated the assembly has constructed teachers quarters, three-unit classroom and six-unit classroom.
