Don't be domineering in your homes - -Dep. Minister.

Effiakuma (W/R) May 2 -GNA-Madam Sophia Horner-Sam, Deputy Western Regional Minister said men who are heads of the home should not use their position to dominate and intimidate their family. She said such acts, divide the home, create instability and lack of respect.

Madam Horner said these at an induction service to climax the 15th annual delegates conference of the Sekondi Diocese of the Association of Methodist Men's Fellowships at Effiakuma on Sunday.

She said several homes have become unmanageable due to the domineering role of parents and this must change to make children feel wanted, accepted and welcomed. Madam Horner-Sam appealed to parents to demonstrate their love to their children while training them for leadership.

She said the country could benefit immensely from properly trained children but if parents failed in this responsibility, the entire nation would suffer.

Odeneho Gyapong Ababio, President of the National House of chiefs said parents, especially the men should lead by example in their homes. He said it would be disastrous for parents to neglect their parental responsibility towards their children.

Delivering the sermon on the theme: "You are the light", the Very Reverend John De-Graft Priddy, Superintendent Minister of the Effiakuma Circuit said the role of men in the home, church and society was enormous but many have ignored this unique role. He said several men have forgotten their roles and assumed new roles, which does not belong to them. Rev. Priddy, therefore called on men to stand up for the right, fight for equality and justice and ensure that the poor and marginalized are assisted.

Mr. Solomon E. Sam and Mr. Samuel K. Haizel were elected chairman and vice chairman of the fellowship respectively, while Mr. George Tweneboah-Kodua was retained as the secretary. The position of Assistant Secretary and Treasurer went to George Esifful-Ansah and Richard Nii Addy respectively. Mr. Emmanuel Kotey was elected as Financial Secretary, while Mr. Ben. Kordie took the Public Relations Position and Mr. Emmanuel A will assist him. Adjei.

Mr. James Abaidoo-Brew inducted them into office; Connectional Lay Chairman elect and assisted by Mr. Richard Quarshie, National Treasurer of the fellowship. May 02 05
