Kumasi, June 22, GNA - Traders at the various markets have been called upon not to keep their daily sales in their shops or at home, since these places were not very safe for keeping money. Mrs Martha Kumah, the New Atonsu market queenmother in Kumasi who made the call, said they could either be robbed or fire could destroy their property including the money.
She therefore asked women traders to send their monies to the banks where the money would be properly taken care of and will also inculcate in them the habit of saving.
Mrs Kumah was speaking at the inauguration of the New Atonsu Ladies Club at Atonsu in the Kumasi metropolis on Monday. The club is aimed at uniting the women traders at the market to ensure their own welfare.
It also intends to offer training in simple management to the members to enable them to manage their businesses and families better. Mrs Kumah encouraged the women to take advantage of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and join the scheme. She told the women that by joining the scheme, they would be guaranteeing a secured future in their old ages.
Mrs Kumah advised the women not to lock up their capital by buying items, which do not sell readily.
She said if they managed their businesses properly, it should be possible for them to use the profits to expand their businesses without committing all their money into one venture. 22 June 04
