Don't rely on Christ only in times of need

Apam, June 29, GNA - The Reverend Father Emmanuel Abbeyquaye, a tutor of the St. Theresa Minor Seminary at Amissano, near Elmina has called on Christians not to look for Christ only in their times of need. Father Abbeyquaye urged Christians to maintain close relation with Christ at all times since failure to do so would allow the devil to overcome them.

He was preaching at a send-off service at the St. Joseph's Catholic Parish for the Reverend Father Joseph Afful-Rhule, the former Parish Priest now on transfer to the Seminary.

Father Abbeyquaye referring to the Apostles, who were alarmed at a storm when Jesus Christ was asleep in a boat, said they would not have been afraid if Christ was awake.

This means that when Christians keep Christ away from their lives, they would not succeed in life, the Father said. The Reverend Father Jude Eduafo Ampah, the new Parish priest urged Christians to have faith in God and to stop "floating" to other sources for prosperity and salvation.

Father Afful-Rhule thanked the congregation for organizing the service in his honour and presenting him with gifts. He pleaded with those who did not understand his policies during his five-year duty tour to forgive him and promised to pray for them.
