Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), July 1, GNA - Mr Vincent Oppong Asamoah, the Dormaa Municipal Chief Executive, has assured cocoa farmers in the area of government's commitment to protecting cocoa farmers and the industry. He gave the assurance in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Dormaa-Ahenkro on the state of affairs in the area regarding this year's spraying of cocoa farms.
Mr. Asamoah said even though the transitional process had delayed the programme, the spraying gangs had been reconstituted for the municipality to ensure systematic and effective operation to cover all cocoa farms.
He appealed to the farmers to get their farms in readiness for the exercise and to assist the gangs. Mr. Asamoah urged cocoa farmers to continue with their hard work while the government addressed problems facing the industry. The municipal officer of the Swollen Shoot and Virus Control Division of COCOBOD, Emmanuel Nii Arkoh, said this year's spraying exercise would be an improvement on the past ones since the farmers and the gangs had gained enough experience. 01 July 09
