Dormaa Assembly presents educational materials to schools

Wamfie (B/A), Nov. 22, GNA - The Dormaa District Chief Executive (DCE), Nana Emmanuel Duku has advised students in junior secondary schools (JSS) in the District to work harder to justify the enormous financial investment in their education by their parents and the state. Nana Duku gave the advice to various junior secondary schools when he distributed exercise books specially designed with the logo of the Dormaa District Assembly to the students.

The exercise books were provided by the government through the Members of Parliament (MPs) for the area and the District Assembly to augment the stationery requirements of students. The DCE re-affirmed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government's commitment to seeing improvement in education at the basic level hence the dramatic infrastructure improvement in the sector over the past three-and-a-half years.

He urged parents and students to make meaningful contributions to the academic revamping exercise by contributing to it. To those schools that did not perform creditably at the recent Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), the DCE announced that pragmatic measures including motivation for both teachers and students would soon be established to draw their schools closer to enviable academic attainments.

He emphasized that good performing schools would also be encouraged to push further for better ranking on the nation-wide performance table.

Nana Duku appealed to parents to erase the erroneous impression that only the affluent in society should expect their children to attain greater heights on the academic ladder adding that each child had its own special talents and that it behoved parents and society to assist them develop these talents to the full.

The Dormaa District Director of Education Mr. Augustine Ampaabeng-Kyeremeh commended the Government and the District Assembly for their continued support for the development of education in the district.

Mr. Ampaabeng-Kyeremeh, who is also the Presiding Member for the Dormaa District Assembly appealed to parents to set aside part of their lavish expenses on social programmes for the welfare of their children.
